You can’t go back and change the beginning. But you can start where you are and change the ending.

About me and how I can support you

As an aerospace engineer I have experienced the normal craziness of a highly demanding environment. In addition to my normal job, I was involved in facilitating trainings on topics around work-life-balance and mental health within my team. Over time it became clear to me that I preferred working with people over my engineering tasks and I dared to change my field of work. Starting with nonviolent communication and mindfulness, I found my home in Systemic Therapy.
My own experiences with trauma, and the wealth of experience I have gained from living an “unconventional life”, provide the foundation for my professional training as a therapist. Today, I support adults in overcoming life’s small and large obstacles – regardless of whether their roots lie in the present or the past.

Unbearable life events and their effects
Sometimes we are confronted with events that fundamentally shake our lives and exceed our ability to cope. Such traumatic experiences feel existentially threatening and are often accompanied by feelings of helplessness, powerlessness, and profound horror.
Trauma can take many forms: accidents, serious illnesses, violent or sexual assaults, war, torture, natural disasters, or even profound experiences of loss and neglect. These are experiences that would trigger deep despair in almost anyone and can leave lasting scars.
When is trauma therapy useful?
When life presents us with serious challenges, it can affect all areas: our personality, relationships, ability to work, health, and, of course, our mental well-being. Sometimes people find their way back to everyday life on their own after stressful events. However, if symptoms persist three to six months after a traumatic experience, they are unlikely to disappear without professional support.
The good news is: With specialized trauma therapy, even long-lasting symptoms can be successfully treated.
What is developmental trauma?
Developmental Trauma – Injuries from Early Relationships
A particular form of trauma I frequently encounter in my work is developmental trauma. This refers to injuries resulting from insecure or disturbed attachments in childhood. Such early experiences can have profound effects on later life, manifesting as difficulties in relationships, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. Developmental trauma often arises from neglect, emotional or physical abuse, or the lack of secure attachment figures in childhood.
Consequences of trauma
Traumatic experiences often leave deep scars in our lives—not only emotionally, but also physically and mentally. Such an event can trigger an enormous stress response, manifesting as hyperarousal of the sympathetic nervous system. This hyperarrousal can manifest itself in several ways:
Physical symptoms:
- Increased heart rate and blood pressure
- Muscle tension, tremors, or sweating
- Sleep disturbances and nightmares
- Loss of appetite
- Increased nervousness
- Chronic pain
- Weakened immune system
Behavioural changes:
- Avoidance of places or people that remind you of the trauma
- Self-harming behavior
- Suicidal thoughts
- Social isolation
- Strong distrust of others
Psychological symptoms:
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Depressive moods
- Obsessive thoughts or actions
- Flashbacks that relive the traumatic event
- Dissociative states and emotional numbness
- Irritability and aggression
- Addictive behavior
- Difficulty concentrating and memory lapses
Thought patterns:
- Feeling of worthlessness
- No future prospects
- Constant self-reproach
- Pessimism and catastrophic thinking
Often, these symptoms only appear after a certain period of time and are not immediately associated with the traumatic event. This can lead to those affected not seeking appropriate support, and the symptoms can become chronic.

Process
Please feel free to contact me by email or phone. In a brief phone call, I’ll discuss how I can support you. In our first session, we’ll work on the following questions, among others:
- What is your current situation, and what brings you to me?
- What do you want to change? And what absolutely needs to stay the same?
- What could be the first, concrete steps toward the desired change?
- Can you imagine working together, and if so, when would you like the next appointment to take place?
Between sessions, you’ll use the time to implement newly developed ideas, try out new behaviors, or simply engage with yourself differently. In our next appointment, we’ll discuss initial positive changes as well as potential new challenges. If necessary, I’ll help you redefine your expectations, ideas, or new resolutions.
Consulting Focuses
- Overwork (burnout or burnout prevention)
- Sleep disorders
- Depressed mood or depression
- Anxieties or worries
- (Life) crises
- Personality development
- Trauma – developmental trauma, single-event trauma, etc.
Existing clients have the option of participating in online sessions if this is not possible otherwise. The initial consultation will take place in person at the practice.
I work in accordance with the ethic guidelines of the Systemic Society.
Scope
I can work with you to tailor the number of sessions to your needs – because every consultation and every therapy session is different. Appointments are arranged individually. Sessions take place at intervals of one week to several weeks, depending on your needs, and last 50 minutes.
Some consultations only last 2-3 sessions, while longer consultation processes can include 10-15 sessions over a period of several months. You are also welcome to define a maximum number of sessions in the first session, and together we will develop a goal that can be achieved within that time.
